    Pioneer Middle School Mission

  • Dear Panther Community,

It is with a heavy heart that I share this tragic news with all of you.  On August 26th, 2020, Mrs. Jennifer Downs, a Special Education Teacher at Pioneer Middle School, passed away, surrounded by her loved ones.  Mrs. Downs was a treasured member of the Pioneer Union Elementary School District.  During
her eight years in our district she worked with students with disabilities in grades K-8 at Pioneer Elementary and Pioneer Middle School.  She was a strong advocate for her students and worked tirelessly to provide her students with quality instruction designed to support their academic and personal growth. In addition, Mrs. Downs was involved in the Special Olympics program and served as the Artisan Club Advisor, providing students an outlet to share their love of the arts.  She spent many afternoons crafting and painting with her students.  In addition to being a beloved teacher, she was also trusted friend and colleague.  She was a wonderful teacher loved by all her students
and she will be missed tremendously.  Her commitment to her students and love for teaching has touched us all.

We know this news may be difficult for your child to understand,
but we encourage you to have an open dialogue with your child to help them
process this information.  It is important children know they have a safe place to discuss their feelings and know they are loved and supported during this tragic time.

If you have any concerns regarding your child’s reaction to this loss, we have our counselor and psychologist available throughout the day to provide emotional support should you feel your child needs it.  If you have special concerns or would like additional support for your child, please feel free to contact our office at (559) 584-0112.

In closing we share our deepest sympathies and condolences to Mrs. Downs’s friends and family during this sad and difficult time.

    Sincerely,

    Jamie Rogers

If you have any questions, please contact Kim Allein at kallein@puesd.net.

    6th Grade Parents,

The new 6th grade chromebooks arrived sooner than expected.  We need you to come in and exchange the chromebook and charging cable that you checked out for your new device.  We will be doing the exchange in the middle school cafeteria this week.  Please click HERE to schedule an appointment.  Remember to bring the chromebook and the charging cable.  We won't be able to make the exchange without both.

Please schedule an appointment as soon as possible.  The new chromebook is faster and will perform better during distance learning.

If you currently have a chromebook with a hot pink barcode sticker on the back, then you already have a new device and no further action is needed.

If you have any questions, please contact Kim Allein at kallein@puesd.net.
