Miss Perkins

Special Education Teacher

Hello!!

My name is Elizabeth Perkins and I was born and raised here in Hanford. I grew up a Pioneer Panther, attending this school from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Over the years I have returned to the school to work as a substitute teacher as well as completing my Student Teaching with Mrs. Chennault.  I am proud to be returning as a fully fledged Panther this year!!

I started my journey out wanting to be a teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. I received my BA in Deaf Studies at CSU Northridge and continued on to start a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teaching Credential at the same school. I moved back to the Central Valley in 2016 for personal reasons and began my career working as a teacher for Deaf students through the Kings County Office of Education. I left after two years to work as a behavioral therapist when I hit a bump in the road to my teaching credential. I worked as a behavior therapist for four years and realized that I loved working with all kinds of special education students, so in 2019 I went back to finish my Mild/Moderate Teaching Credential. After finishing my credential I decided to stay local to my family and began my journey in another school district before coming to PUESD this year. I am excited to continue my teaching journey here as a Pioneer Panther and I look forward to meeting and working with the families of all my students.

In my down time I enjoy reading and listening to music. I have dreams of one day having a library as big as the one in "Beauty and the Beast" (my favorite movie) and I would say that I have a pretty good start towards that dream already. I love spending time with my family and playing with my dog, Jedi. When I have the opportunity I enjoy going down south to visit Universal Studios Hollywood and Disneyland. I am a huge Disney fanatic!!
